A Message from the Owner
The health and well-being of our guests, employees, and communities is a top priority. It is extremely important that we have all of the complex safety, sanitization and physical distancing procedures in place before reopening. We will continue to keep everyone updated.
Please, take the time to read through the guidelines below to better understand the actions we are taking to safely reopen Phoenix Theatres. Thank you for your cooperation to help create a safe environment for everyone.
UPDATED - August 20, 2020
We are excited to announce the reopening of Phoenix Theatres Kennedy Mall on Thursday, August 27th. Guests will have the chance to see Marvel’s “New Mutants,” Solstice Studios’ new Russell Crowe film “Unhinged,” Warner Brothers’ 10th Anniversary Exclusive Showing of Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” and starting on September 1st the Special Advanced Showing of Christopher Nolan’s long awaited "Tenet."
As a company we remain hopeful that in the next couple of weeks we will receive government approval to reopen our other locations that are still shuttered.
During the past 5 month a historic alliance of 315 companies representing over 30,000 screens nationwide have come together to commit to implementing expert-backed industry-specific health and safety protocols. This program, commissioned by the National Association of Theatre Owners, puts the health and safety of our guests and employees at the center of movie theater operations across the country.
When you see the CinemaSafe logo, you can rest assured your cinema is doing — and insisting on — everything possible to ensure your safe & healthy return to the movies!
UPDATED - JULY 19, 2020
Many of you might be wondering why we have not yet opened our theatres at Kennedy Mall in Iowa or Beacon Cinema in Massachusetts, even though both states have now given us the approval to do so. Michigan has yet to give us approval, but we remain hopeful that this will be granted soon.
As theatres have opened across America playing classic films and specialized programming, it has become apparent that films that are not major first-run releases are not sustainable over a long period by themselves. The opening date for our theatres will align with major studio releases such as “Tenent,” and “Mulan,” as well as a fine schedule of new film product planned for the remainder of 2020.
We have also used this added time to conduct deep cleanings at each theatre and ongoing careful training of our staff and management on our new safety protocols. The details are reviewed on our web site at www.phoenixmovies.net.
We wanted to thank everyone for your months of patience. We realize that it is vitally important to re-open in a responsible and safe manner that allows everyone to enjoy a fine new film in our cinemas.
Necessary procedures we are asking of both our staff, and guests, to abide by throughout the reopening process at each Phoenix Theatres location.
Guests will be required to wear face masks when moving about the theatre, per state and/or local ordinances
Stay at Home If Sick
If you are feeling sick or have been ill in the last 24 hours, please do not enter the theatre.
Practice Social Distancing
Maintain a minimum of six-foot distance from other guests. Observe floor markings to ensure social distance in the lobby, lines and restrooms.
Wash Your Hands
Hands must be washed with hot soapy water for at least 20 seconds when using the restrooms.
Utilize hand sanitizing stations located throughout the facility.
Updated Staffing Protocols
Extra efforts will be taken by members of our staff to ensure that all necessary precautions will be taken throughout the theatre to maintain cleanliness and sanitation.
Staff members health screening will include having their temperature taken prior to the start of each shift. Staff members will be required to stay home from work if they have been recently exposed to COVID-19, are symptomatic or sick per the CDC guidelines. Additionally, staff will be sent home immediately if they show symptoms of illness.
Disinfect High-Contact Surfaces
High-contact surfaces (door handles, counter tops, faucets, kiosks, railings, etc.) will be wiped down with a medical-grade sanitizing agent at a minimum of once every 30 minutes. We will also maintain nightly deep cleanings of all auditoriums, bathrooms and high-traffic areas.
Wear Protective Equipment
All team members must wear the required protective equipment and adhere to all CDC recommended standards of use of such equipment at all times. Protective equipment will be provided by Phoenix Theatres at no cost to the staff.
Face masks will be worn in common areas such as lobby, hallways and restrooms. Staff will only be allowed to remove masks when they leave for break.
Facility and Operational Provisions
- Extra time in between shows to allow for thorough cleaning of auditoriums and seating.
- Hand sanitization stations placed throughout the building.
- Fewer scheduled performance times to limit the number of guests in the building.
- Reduced auditorium capacities to limit the number of guests in each room.
- Staff will work specialized positions to increase cleanliness of high-contact areas of the business.
- All staff will recieve extensive training on sanitation, personal hygiene, equipment (gloves, masks, etc.) and guest interaction.
Social Distancing Layouts
Seating layouts will automatically follow social distancing protocols. Seating capacities will be reduced to the standards set by local government officals. A checkered seating layout will be created in all auditoriums by removing pairs of seats to establish six-feet of distance between guests. All of the existing aisle ways in the auditoriums are 6ft from seat back to seat back creating a safe distance on all sides. Seats, armrests and cupholders will be properly disinfected between every screening.
Coronavirus Disinfection Solutions
Advanced formula for all surfaces
Approved by the EPA for use against the Novel Coronavirus that causes COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), Influenza, H1N1 and many other Viruses. Each auditorium will be spayed between performances using a CDC approved food grade disinfectant spray that removes 99.99% of all viruses on surfaces within 30 seconds. We will also us this new disinfect spray on all the high touch points throughout the theatre including surfaces in the restrooms and concession stand.
